Unusual frost build-up on the inside of windscreen...

...every time I park the car facing north, and when it's chilly (-5C and below), frost builds up on the inside of the windscreen.
Doesn't build-up on the side windows nor on the back window; just the front.
Nor does it build-up if I park facing south even if it colder.
Can't say I've seen any other cars I've owned do that nor any other cars parked around me.
Can't see any buttons nor dials on the dash to prevent it, so I'm buffled by how that happens.
Anyone else experience this or has plausible answers?

maybe there is residual humidity? Sometimes when I shut the passat off and walk away I see moisture condense on the front inside windscreen quite quickly (this is when its been raining a lot).
In your case it might just freeze on the windscreen. Try running the AC for a bit before you get home as it will de humidify the air and possibly help prevent...? Just grasping at straws for ya!

I'm in Calgary so cold nights are the norm but mine's in the garage and doesn't experience this but I think what happens is;
the residual amount of humidity in the car when you park,(of which a larger amount is "trapped" or contained under the sloped windshield, than the vertical side/rear glass)condenses on the cold glass. Moisture off the front carpets where dampness is more likely than on rears, adds to where the humidity is likely to be.
If you checked the car when parked facing south early enough that no sun might have warmed it, would it still show frost? Want to get up at 0500 am?
Alternately a leak in the heater core which allows small amounts of glycol (coolant) into the car will cause fogging (and the windshield is bathed by this when on defrost) but this should be a "fog" and not real frost and not appear dependent on a north or south orientation.
If it scrapes off it's frost, if it's kinda smeary it may be glycol.
