Hi All,
I've got a vibration very present in my 03 allroad 2.7T with the 6 spd. It occurs above 50mph and is very evident in the steering wheel shaking as well as a whole sense of the car "not feeling right" above 65 or so. One dealer couldn't find a problem...another said bad tires...tire shop said bad tires... So I had Firestone put on a set of four Firestone Afinity LH30s with a four wheel alignment. The problem is still there.
I've seen the vibration issue mentioned here before, but it seemed isolated to the automatic transmissions. Is that the case?
Any input on this? I'm going back to the dealer tomorrow to see what their next idea is.

Sometimes they throw the stick on weights and unbalance themselves again. Look for a shop that can do road force balancing and perhaps try a higher quality tire next time.

Pick a reference point up top and watch the tire as it goes by that point. If you see it dip as it rotates around, you've got either tires or wheels (or both) that are out of round, and will cause vibration. If they're out of true, you might consider rotating rears (assuming they're true) to front to see if that solves the problem. If they are 'true', then have them rebalanced.

I had this same problem on my 2001 6spd a few months back. I took all four wheels off the car and totally cleaned them with a hose and brush. If you drive it in the snow or offroad you can get build up on the inside of the wheels which will cause vibration. After I cleaned them my car drove smooth again.

So I take the car into the dealer today. We went for a ride (their tech and myself) and he said "well that doesn't feel right". They took it out again (different tech) and...
They state the right front drive axle came loose. It had to be towed back to the dealer.
Whatcha all think of that?
