Hi all, on sharp low speed turns at or near full turning angles the car seems to vibrate or make a rumbling sounds. almost feels like the Hardy disk has worn in the drive shaft but i dont know is this car has one. any ideas what might be wrong?

Hi I have the same symptoms, I think its to do with diff and quattro system delivering the drive to all four wheels.

well if the car has all wheel drive then it does have a driveshaft to the rear diff.

without knowing what the mileage is, its harder to guess what might be wrong, however it sounds like a couple of things

could he a bad wheel bearing
or its the cv joints telling you its time to replace those which means either buying new axles or getting them rebuilt

sidenote, on cars with all wheel drive there are sounds and vibrations that happen because of the way everything works.

took the car to the shop for some other issues and asked about the rumbling, they suggested changing differential fluid but basically impliead the vibration was part of the four wheel drive.

My '02 allroad with 117K miles does the same when I make a sharp ninety degree turn out of my driveway in the morning at very low speed. I have assumed it was the CV joint telling me that it will eventually need replacing. The sound is a very low rumble.
