Default Voltmeter - Dash @ 14 volts?

I am new owner of a 2002 AR CPO w/41k...just moved from a BMW 5 Series due to the mountainous terrain in Rockland County vs. Long Island. I have been lurking and have learned a lot from everyone thank you. My question is...is it normal for the voltmeter on the dash to read 14 instead of 12 volts. Also the oil temp gauge takes a long time to register and when it does the temp is not very high...do AR oil temps run that low...
Thanks

Phil

Default The charge is between 12 and 14 volts; and when driving w/o any major components like lights etc

then a 14 Volt charge on the display is normal.
Yes, the oil temp takes some time to reach 150F, the currently cooler conditions will add more time to the task.
If you drive the car in the summer time with the AC running then you'll see the difference.

Please keep in mind that your oil (around 6.5 liter) has to feed 2 Turbos besides the engine.
And if you want to protect your Turbos then drive with patience until the Oil temp has registered 150F before you get on it.

Default 'xactly. A 12 volt system will never charge a battery to 12 volts, there needs to be potential...

between the charging source and receptor. If you want to see what your battery's charge is, turn the key to the on position without starting the car.

And yes, my oil is currently taking ~15-20 minutes to come off the peg, and my outside temps are hovering around freezing. Of course, as mentioned below, I'm not revving the car hard nor high until that needle moves.
