Last night I read the XC / allroad compro in the road test section of this site. Interesting article, but I was disappointed to see that the XC did a bit better on the offroad test.
What have the folks on this board experienced when taking their allroad offroad? How many have REALLY (not dirt roads and construction zones) gone offroad?
And most important, How do I get to drive on the local Land Rover offroad track? I've seen the setup in Lake Forest, IL and would love to go play in their sandbox. I know that this isn't gonna happen any time soon - but it would be fun.

They felt the allroad was superior offroad, though how far you can get off road in the UK is an interesting question ! If I remember rightly they were mainly blasting around paddocks and through some muddy stuff.
Mind you just because it's better offroad, if you agree, you still have to put up with all the disadvantages on the road !

I agree whole-heartedly. The allroad is much better on the road than any other choice on the road - certainly among other cross-over vehicles and SUVs. It just hunkers down and flys.
I actually can't stand SUV's. I hate having to drive behind them. I have no understanding as to the appeal of the ever bigger SUVs such as the Navimagator and the Excretion. (No offense to the potential allroad owners with a behemoth sharing the garage.)
I love the total package. Speed, versitility and neato tech. If anything you get the S4 spirit in a great XUV with room for people with legs in the back seat.

First the Explorer - Vast search for something - fairly small truck
then Expedition - a smaller but still important trip - bigger truck
then the Excursion - a little trip, maybe a stop at the mall - biggest truck
