What kind of ODB scanner?

Just bought a used 2001 Allroad. Great car. My nearest audi service guy is 125 miles away. The orange check engine light just came on. Don't know the problem, but hate to drive 2 hrs. without knowing the condition of the engine. I am thinking about getting an OBD scanner to check the code. Any suggestion on a decent, not to expensive unit that will fit my needs, not break the bank, and be able to read all the Audi info? Currently looking at a "Autel MaxiScan MS409 OBD-II/EOBD Scanner", "http://www.amazon.com/Autel-MaxiScan-MS409-OBD-II-Scanner/dp/B001LHW9YG/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=automotive&qid=1249916630&sr =1-13 on amazon for $80.00, any thoughts.

Your help is much appreciated.

www.ross-tech.com the makers of VAG-COM. Just call and tell them your year and what PC yo have.

Ross-tech's VAG-COM is the only way to go.

I have a vagcom and its very useful, does alot more than scan codes. i also run a Scangauge II, which will also check codes and give you useful digital gauges.
