allroadfaq got the size listed as 50, but tirerack / costco got the ar on 55s. Thinking about getting some OEM A6 4.2s 35et w/ spacers fat aluminum five spokers with 245/?/17 tires. Any recommedations on all seasons?

miss the wallowing of the 17" tires at all. The tires that came with my ar were GY Triple Tred Assurance. They were good in all conditions too. I trust the tests & surveys at Tire Rack.

I've been and ardent fan of the Falken Ziex 512 since I first lurked on this forum. Three sets, two gave me 30K+ in miles. The third blew a tire by curing it so I have to ditch all of them due to the miles on them.
I was looking at Plus 0 sizing @ 245-50-17 but WOW...what a difference. low selection and HIGH price. I'll stay with the stock size and go with the new Falken Ziex 912. Supposedly a better and now Z rated a/s tire. for 93.00 delivered I don't think you can beat it.

I just recently went through a couple of tires. First up was the Toyo Versado LX. I really wanted to like this tire. Great price and good reviews. I had them on the car for a week, including a road trip down I-75 through OH, KY & TN and a return trip in a major downpour. These tires were quiet, held on without even a hint of hydroplane in the storm and were pretty darn grippy in the dry. The bad: a shake in the wheel that would not go away even after a trip to the main store of the tire dealer to use their sonar balancer and a trip to the dealer for a round on the Road Force balancer. All the tires balanced but there was a shake in the seat of the pants and the steering wheel. So the tire dealer gave up and we decided to try a different tire.
Unfortunately a much more expensive tire, but the one that went on the car are Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus. Not quite as quiet, and I have not had a chance to really run them hard, but no shimmy shake.

...or I will be when they arrive along with my new wheels!
I thought long about going to 18s, but I live in Colorado and occaisionally take the allroad light offroading for climbing trips.
