Default What RPM is normal for crusing @ 80 mph?

I have a 2003 all-road 2.7T which appears to not be shifting into 5th gear at 80 mph the tach is 3K rpm. The faster I go the higher and higher the rpm revs. The Audi dealership claims that nothing is wrong with the transmission or car in general. Does anybody have the same experience or what rpm does your all-road run at 80 mph. This is a stock car without any modifications with orginal wheels.

Thanks

Default allroads turn higher than average RPM on the highway. The tip is actually geared tall

My 6 speed manual turns 3k at 70. It's not like most V8's I've been used to that turn 2k at 75. It's really no problem, the car likes to rev, and actually gets better mileage at higher RPM.

its normal..the ar is geared for higher RPSs than the A6 or other Audis.

However, do you detect LOCK UP of the tranny at cruising speed?

it's normal. No worries ! Switch to tip mode and shift up yourself. You'll see 12345 in the dash display. 3k is normal for 5th gear @75-80 mph

Default I agree, but...

are you sure about this? I understand that from a power vs. fuel consumption stand point the engine is more efficient at the rpm with the max torque, but don't higher revolutions per minute mean more fuel per minute and therefore more less mpg regardless of efficiency? Just a thought...

anyways, I was surprised myself how high the Allroad revs at highway cruising speeds. Reminds me of the good ol days when I still lived in Germany and had shot for a cruising speed right before redline in high gear... (=240km/h-ish) Unfortunately not often possible!
That definitely is one thing i miss here. Right now I don't even know fast my AR can go :-(

Could you elaborate on this? My 2.7 Tip (150,000km with TC fault code on for 9 months) sits at 2600rpm at 100kmph (62mph) and if I have the cruise on it sometimes jumps to 2800rpm and will continue at the higher revs. Is this a transmission issue, a TC issue, a cruise issue or just something the allroad does?

Thanks

My 4.2 is at 2,800 rpm at 70 mph - approximately.

If you want low rpm's at 70 mph cruising speed buy a Corvette. My friends tell me that at about 1,500 rpm they get 30 mpg in theirs.

I may not be as fast, but I can go anywhere doing it
