Default Wheel well snow....

We finished haveing the first big snow storm of the year here in the Boston area and the snow build up in the wheel wells is unbelievable. I have mud flaps and the snow was inches away from the tires. I had to chip the snow out and it was very hard, it seems the snow sticks even more with the cloth like material Audi uses on the rear wells. Its awlfull, why didn't they use a smooth surface so the snow and dirt would come off easy and not stick?

Reading the post from the past days, The one about the battery on the concrete floor is an old wives tail, the battery will not drain, deenergize.

Default the mudflaps actually increase the amount of snow in the wheel wells

or at least it seemed that way after I put mine on last year, but I still think it's better to have the flaps

try to check the wheel wells each time you stop and before you drop down a level if you've been driving awhile, last winter somebody posted a picture of the inside of their tires getting worn down to the cords on the inside edge of a rear tire

so how'd you like it in the snow we got?

Default Thank goodness it is getting warmer...

I had snow caked in my wheel wells, and it was hard to get this stuff out. My car rides low already, and it was hard to get in there to clean it out!

Since you are in the Boston Area, checkout the New England Forum...we are planning a get together on January 9th at the Atrium Mall (indoor garage space). Would like to meet a few more allroad folks! Have met seeksAR and Woodman AR-01 in the past.

Mabye the rear seat warmers could be relocated to the wheel wells.

Default Actually, my experience tells me the batteries will drain if left on concrete.

Something about the lye in the cement. Should we send it to mythbusters.

How about spraying the inside of the wheel-wells with some type of lubricant -- perhaps teflon based?
