Did a routine check on my engine oil in my 05 allroad 2.7T and found some white gooey like stuff in the oil on the dipstick. I'm afraid that this means that I have coolant leaking into my oil via a bad cylinder head gasket. There isn't much residue. The coolant in the expansion reservoir is clear and the level is still in the max volume range. Anybody have any experience with this? My car only has 66K on it and it seems a bit early for a head gasket to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you experience winter/cold weather in your location? we see this once in a while after very cold weather - - it's water vapor blending with the engine oil. (It's quite possibly not a coolant leak.) Do you see the stuff on the oil filler cap when removed?
You can always have a UOA performed and they will tell you if there is coolant in the engine oil

It has been cold here in CT and wet. Also being my wife's car, she only has a 5 minute commute to work and back and the car sits pretty much all day. I'll get it out on the highway and make sure that it gets warm and see what happens. Thanks for the help.

Yeah, I think y'all got more snow than us this year.
Short trips mean that things never get up to temp and the moisture never gets burned off.
The temp gage on the dashboard is not a good indicator of the engine being warmed up. It takes miles to get the engine oil up to temp.
I think some of the guys have a way of displaying engine oil temp via a VAGCOM tweak...
