Default Who sells extended warranty in CA? Seems like there's a law against it. Dealers?

Anybody got exteneded warranty for your ar living in California? Did a little research and most if not all of the online shops won't sell to CA residents. I know you can get it from the dealer, just wondering if it might be cheaper to get it online. TIA for any info. JimiRay's post always have me thinking I need to get one soon. Just passed 30k, and inching closer to 50k everyday.

Default Cali law restricts extended warranty sales to car dealers

I bought the 7 yr /100k mi Pure Protection platinum warranty from my Audi dealer. It's from JM&A, with Audi lending their name (only). It is exclusionary and covers most everything and I spent $3k. Prices of these things are negotiable. GE is another good warranty.

Default I believe Cali law requires the company to be registered through CA Dept of Ins.--AAA was selling...

the policies for a while. They have stopped, but was told they may resume.

You can buy them from someone other than a car dealer, like an insurance company. I believe you can order them on the internet as well, as long as the company is registered through CA Dept. of Ins. so they meet more stringent requirements like that of insurance companies.

I'll see if I can find the few links I found on the topic. There are a couple other states that have similar laws.

Default I was told you can buy them through your credit union...

supposedly they're like 1/2 the price of what you'd pay for one through the dealer

Default Audi new veh protection in SF Bay Area is ...

$2,282 for Platinum Plan (6 yrs or $72k miles which ever comes first). This is an exclusionary policy. There is an extra premium for 2001 ARs of $210, plus an additional $240 for turbo coverage. Dealer will waive the extra premiums if use their shop. Can also get higher mileage and duration coverage. Also, have inclusive plans at lower cost (Silver and Gold policies). Lastly, this coverage only applies if your AR is still under the original warranty
