Default Is there any update on this?

Did the group buy happen? Is the hitch still available? I'm very interested in one!

Email him directly. It's back further.
He might have one available.

Thanks. Justin, I sent you an email.

I saw some questions about towing a car with an allroad. I thought I'd offer my experience. I just got this recent allroad, and it's the fourth one I've owned. Needless to say I love this car.

In 2006 I moved from DC to Minnesota. I was in the middle of building a 33 Ford street rod. The moving company wouldn't move it because it did not have brakes yes, and the motor didn't run. So, I bought a car trailer and towed it. I estimate it weighed about 2500 pounds at the time, and the trailer about another 1500 (or whatever a 16 foot dove tail car trailer weighs). I towed with an allroad 2.7T a little over 1200 miles total. No problem whatsoever, moved along at upwards of 80mph during some open stretches. I averaged about 11 mpg, which is actually better than when I tow a similar load with my suburban.

I've been very tempted in the past to tow my boat with my allroad. The boat and trailer weigh 5500. I think the car would be fine and the trailer has brakes. But, I'm afraid that if someone pulled in front of me, even if it were their fault, I'd lose for being "negligent" because the car was technically overloaded. so, I haven't done it, but I think it would be fine... at least for a few mile trip from home to the lake.

Personally I wouldn't recommend towing that much. Might just want to use your Suburban for that.
There is a guy on here (can't remember) but he tows his travel camper that weighs about 5500 lbs with a trailer brake and he says it's fine in my instances but he has weight distribution bars.
If you chose to do it, don't sue us. lol

Hello !!
I won't fit for sure on an Avant A6 2006 and it won't even fit on a regular avant 2003-5 even if it is a C5 body. Look at on the Westfalia-automotive website at http://www.westfalia-automotive.de/index.php?id=54&L=1
for details. You will notice the difference.
Ciao!!!

I'm wondering if the people that purchased the first batch of Hitches could leave some testimonials.

Though I have yet to tow anything with it yet, I will be in about 2 weeks time.
400 mile trip from Monroeville, PA to Lusby, MD towing a car.

With the bits and pieces that JustMtnB44 provides, including mounting hardware, it's an awesome hitch. Install was pretty simple. If you have any questions about the install, PM me.

It was powder coated and looks awesome.
Like I said, I will post soon enough, but I would recommend this. And the hitch fits into the factory holes perfectly and is generally better than the OEM IMO because of the safety chain hooks.
It's also pretty beefy so it feels solid, but doesn't weigh as much as the moon.
