Default Allroad Hitch

I ordered the allroad hitch from Justin and had it delivered to a postal drop just across the border since I live in Canada. I am very happy with. It was quite easy to install on my 2006 allroad. All the bolt holes lined up perfectly and it took me about half a day to do. The trickiest part was getting the bumper cover off. After you get all the screws off, it seems like it is still on tight. I searched the net for help and found you just wiggle it hard in a certain way and it comes off, which it did. Still not exactly sure what I did. Anyway it is very easy to get back on again. I rigged up a 7 pin electrical adapter and we used it to pull a tent trailer (8 ft Rockwood) on our holidays. The trailer pulled easily, hardly noticeable that it was behind us. I highly recommend the hitch.

I am planning on getting a bicycle carrier, at it seems you have the most selection if you get one that fits into a horizontal receiver. Was planning on ordering the CURT Manufacturing 45013 2" Vertical Receiver Adaptor. I suspect it fits, but has anyone tried it? just want to confirm before I order.

Can't help you with the bike system (I recall Justin having a post saying he thought commercially available parts would work so he decided against supplying them), but I found following someone's suggestion to use a Wonder Bar to pry off the bumper cover from behind the wheelwell worked fine.

Jan, glad to hear the install went well and you are happy with the hitch. To answer your question, yes the Curt 45013 adapter fits and will work perfectly for bike racks.

I just wanted to bump and say I got my hitch and got it installed. Justin has outdone himself, Fine craftsmanship (I know he outsoured the actual fabracation, but still) Cant even see it when its installed.

worth every penny - especially to have a hitch that can handle what the AR can, not some flimsy U-haul joberdoo.
