Will the Allroad ever have 3rd row seating?

The Subaru is getting old, and the in-laws are pestering us to get a minivan so they can ride with us and the 2 kids. NO MINIVAN EVER!!
We would like to look for a station wagon that has 3rd row seating for the few times a year that we would need it. My folks winter in Florida for 7 months a year, 1,800 miles away. His Mom lives 500+ miles away. The car should have good storage space for general utility.
It would be nice to add another Audi to the garage.

I used to run a Volvo 740 Turbo as the family car. My wife was driving it and was rearended by a pickup with a snow plow mount. Steel smashed through the back window, right side. My daughter Grace was strapped into the rear-facing third seat in her car seat on the left side. I thanked the Lord and bought a Suburban the next day. I would NEVER let my kids ride in a jump seat. The family car is now a Chevy Astro van.

False logic IMO.
Nothing more than two cars both merging into same lane and car clips rear corner of Yukon. SHoudl be no big deal but the thing swerves wildly, spins, hits curb and rolls over into a brick column and iron fence. Teenager ejected and sent to shock trauma.
Statisticaly what is more likely: rolling your Suburban or being rear-ended by a snow plow?

as part of the energy absorbtion to protect the adult passengers. The NHTSA supports this of course because those of us that use 3rd seats are so stupid that our offspring should be killed off to protect the gene pool.
</over the top sarcasm>
Anyway - do you think that it is a crumple zone? Everything is a crumple zone in the right collision. Check our what side protection is between some child seats and the outside in some minivans.

the single car accident rate b/n SUV's and cars is crazy. Never mind that that nice "safe" suburban has NO passenger safety requirements.
I'm not a big fan of rear facing seats but I'd put my kid in a audi or volvo wagon any day over a SUV.
By the way I took care of a 8 y/o girl about s months ago who in a suburban vs BMW 750 collision - she was the only one of 6 passengers in the suburban who survived. The 4 in the 7 series all walked away. Why? Simple the suburban rolled.
