Will keeping the Tip in "S" mode alleviate turbo lag?
I only drove two ar's that were both Tips and they were both on the highway. How bad is the turbo lag anyway? If I go with an 02 or 01 ar, its likely to be a Tiptronic because there's just more of them.

Re: Will keeping the Tip in "S" mode alleviate turbo lag?
The only lag I have experienced is initial throttle after braking and it's minor. Early on the shifting was not as smooth as it has been once I reached 5k miles. As far as turbo never really experienced what I would call lag, just sudden increase in speed. I like the sport setting for highway driving since the shifts are quicker and gears hold a bit longer. Don't like it in 30 mph city driving due to holding the gears longer and sometimes staying in 3rd. I've starting using the manual mode in slow traffic, reminds me of the days with a stick only I don't have to mess with the clutch.

Don't settle on a tip "just because there are more of them"
IMO, this is the most critical option choice on the car. It's not like settling on stock wheels over twin spokes or gray vs. silver. If you like to drive a stick, you will be missing out on half the fun of the car.
Hold out and get what you want.

No Tip Lag in "S" ... I always use it ... vrrrmmmm !!
S tip is addicting ... no tip lag ... whatsoever ... and who needs 6-speed with the smart "S" tip shifting the AR like a real racing machine faster than any clutch and stick shift .. hey .. I've driven stick for 18 years ... "S" is just way too cool and smooth
