Thanks for the thoughts AND the pics - those are REALLY helpful. Unfortunately,in IL we can't legally tint front passenger windows.. :-(, but I have some great ideas now for the rear.

follow state laws
its great to have them tinted, but i was pulled over for my tint - so follow the laws on this - but remember the allroad is an SUV - so those are the rules to follow.

Actually, no problems reversing at night. Not that dark. No problems with law either...
though this is Los Angeles, and they have bigger things to worry about.
The only time I have trouble seeing through the tint is when I drive into an underground garage with sunglasses on. I have to take them off.
I'm fair skinned, and in this southern CA sun, I would roast without tint.
