Winter update ** 2
(1) The other time it snowed here, I was out of town; this time there's enough for me to get a feel for my snow tires (Dunlop M2s) on snow. They're way, way better than the stock Pirelli P6s and at least as good as any other set of (non-studded) snows I've ever had. And their performance on dry pavement is *much* better than any of those other sets of snows (this is the H-rating, I'm sure).
(2) And the mud flaps I put on the other day do the job quite well: the rocker panels aren't messed up with snow, road gravel, and salt. Also, compared my other time in snow with this car (in October in Colorado on the Pirellis), the rooster tails are significantly clipped. So, except when I'm being tail-gated by some nimrod in an SUV, I won't feel so guilty about spraying people behind me. HPH

Re: Tailgated by an SUV is probably not a real problem in an allroad; as....
so u like the dunlap m2s? i have the pirelli winter assimetricos i put on for the winter and in snow they are great, i drive on dry a lot with them when i go home and they seem to be fine too. im sure they will wear more here in the bay area but i like having them for my tahoe treks. ill switch back to my stock pirellis
after ski season.
