Some people have found they are at fault with this. Not the proper shape where they meet the rim. So they tighten, but not with enough surface area.

And wobble was same before and after. I'll take a look at lug nuts and 2-piece brake dust buildup per forum members' suggestions. And further maybe rotate some wheels to see if symptoms change.
But I suspect none of this will matter. Again, no wobble at any speed or turning direction - unless I'm on the throttle.

Not sure how to troubleshoot. I'm afraid I won't know for sure without guessing and replacing (and hoping and praying).

I had the dreaded wobble from about 45-60 mph on my '01. I was still under warranty and the dealer replaced the TCU with a supposed updated TCU. It did change the behavior of my tip (whether it was a case of a bad TCU or the reprogramming of the new TCU, I don't know). The new TCU not only rid the car of the wobble, but improved shifts, lag, etc. all around. Lag is still there, but much better.
I would think picking up a used TCU might leave you with the same problem, if there is in fact an updated one (the claim of my dealer when they replaced it). Might you be better off with money spent on a tip chip? Or a new TCU?

Electronic Differential Lock would be like low lock on a traditional 4wd; all wheels on an axle spin at the same rate. During a turn, EDL is off to facilitate different tire speeds following a different radius (the inside tire covers less ground). If EDL sticks, tires will scrub, causing a vibration, particularly under power, which would account for uneven wear.

If EDL is activated, wouldn't you hear the associated ABS chatter? I certainly do on my S6, haven't had it kick in on the Allroad yet.

That swapping the TCU with an "updated" one has solved the wobble issue.
I think the wobble thing is only on 2001s (might include 2002s as well).
Personally I would try the Tip Chip as suggested by scfan. If it does not solve the issue you will at least get better shifting in return.
Good luck solving your wobble![Frown](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)

ESP is related to the ABS / EDL is electronically locking the torsen differentials that make quattro work. I feel EDL is pretty useless for most driving. There was a manual switch to use it years ago, now it's automatic. Made in the USA, Torsen diffs are also used on the Hummer H1.
