the Nokian WR is a Winter rated allseason and it is a stickier tire by your accounts than the Hankook Icebear and folks run the Nokian WR year round and their tires don't melt off and form a puddle on the highway and become so unsafe as to cause a hazard for the general public (your words) then explain to me the science of the materials that would cause the Nokians to perform so superbly in the winter and then be safe to drive all year around but the Icebears wouldn't??? If you are worried that the Icebear name means it is a snow/ice only tire I'll call them WBears when the weather gets warmer and we'll be even.
Besides all of this is just discussion as I am not so stupid as to drive an unsafe/squishy tire in the summer if I feel that it is not holding up...as I said before, if that becomes the issue I'll put the PolePositions that are in the shed that it came with back on for summer only (and pray they handle the rain)...I will post the results of this experiment next summer on a lovely 100 degree day (I will not be the first to have done this by any means if my research holds true)...now end of story.

they did feel a little squishy but they were quieter and felt smoother than the toyo's I had on my old rims.
There was no big problem with their performance/feel, but I did get a summer set of tires, thinking that the summer heat would prematurely wear the M3s and the extra performance would be nice...
that said I live about 20 miles south of canada, so even in the summer 80f is rare...

I don't know why you have such problems with this, go to the co. websites and read about what each designed their tires for and why, its not rocket science.
Have you called Hankook yet to see if they think its wise to run one of their winter tires in the summer, didn't think so, you dont have to because the answer is flat out NO.
You can all them whatever you want, but the bottom line is they are a winter tire, to operate them as anything else is ignorant, foolish, and quite simply dangerous.

but bottom line is you are taking a safety risk running winters in the summer not to mention going out of your way to wear-out and ruin your tires.

I now take the bus into NYC. Its easier and gets at least one more car off the road. Thats my go green support. Or an R8s not a bad alternative.

If you want to go back to rehash an old difference of opinion unrelated to the topic you might consider marking it "off topic"
