So using CarPlay while plugged in, it doesn't switch? Strange how turning MMI Wi-Fi connection off in your MyAudi app settings doesn't fix it like it did for so many of us.
You could make/receive calls and stream music via Bluetooth - you don’t need Siri for that. I’m not aware of a way to send or receive texts without carplay being active to begin with.

I guess this is an issue for some. I’ve never listened to the radio in a car in probably a decade, so carplay firing up and being the first thing I see is preferred for me.

I know it’s a super old thread, but I’ve got the same thing going on in my brand new S5. Has been doing it since day 1. Wondering if OP figured this out?

Here is what is working for me to have CarPlay enabled yet not have the e-tron switch the audio from Radio to CarPlay every time I start the e-tron.

1. Open your MyAudi app on your iPhone
2. Select the person icon in the lower right corner to open the app settings
3. Scroll down to "Services" and tap "Vehicle connection"
4. Deselect "MMI Wi-Fi connection"

I tried this but it didn't work, however I read that it's actually apple music that is taking over, so I deleted apple music. Spotify is better anyways. It seems to have worked.

I had this same issue with my new iPhone 15... if you go to the phones Bluetooth setting and select the Audi_MMI profile you will see a setting for CarPlay. You can select it to be off so it does not start automatically.

CarPlay will take over if you have any app open that starts multimedia, such as Facebook or even Safari with a video or audio playing on the page.
