The fact that the outlet has worked for 9 months without an issue probably indicates something else went wrong. Opening up the box and uninstalling the outlet will reveal whether the wiring went bad. As suggested the screw down could have become loose causing heating at the connection. Checking the wire size for #8 would be prudent as well. You should be able to order a new pigtail for the charger at your dealer. There are a lot of posts on this issue.

9 months is a little early for something like this. But to anybody installing a new EVSE.
TIGHTEN the connectors to the outlet. Follow the pattern and ensure that you tighten each screw in order multiple times.
1 MONTH later, re tighten.
Annually re tighten.
This is NOT your 120V outlet in your living room. It will loosen over time. You have to have a solid connection or with that much amperage you will have problems eventually.

Repeated plugging in and unplugging is the most likely cause of a socket fail. Thermal cycles can also eventually loosen something, but not nearly as quickly.

I’m not sure what the replacement 14-50 plug portion replacement from Audi is going to cost you, but if you never unplug and it’s pricey, you might want to consider a hardwired solution from another brand for your EVSE.

$289.30 + tax for the 14-50 cable at audiusaparts (on-line store of the Beaverton, OR Audi dealership). I ordered few times from them and never had an issue.
