Has Audi fixed e-tron reliability issues with the 2021 model?

That's disappointing to hear. I've only had my 2019 car for a month before sending it back to dealership for software issues. It's been there now half as long as I've owned the car.

Six weeks?!?!?! What's the experience been like during that time? DId they give you a loaner at all?
Guess I shouldn't be bitching with my car being in the dealership for two weeks thus far and them giving me another e-Tron as a loaner!

Glad your e-tron has been trouble free. Based on the New Jersey Department of Insurance e-trons have a 10 times higher lemon rate than the Q5. Ironically also about 8 times higher than the Tesla. As I tell people when the vehicle is operational it is a wonderful experience. The issue is the 7+ weeks it has been at the Audi dealer for issue resolution. I've owned Audi's for 30 years and this is the first time I had reliability issues. But this was also the first Audi EV.

Take this with a grain of salt. Audi seems to have been pretty cooperative about accepting returns under the Lemon Law. I have heard Tesla is very cagey about how they classify defects and reliability issues, making it difficult to meet the number of events and time out of service in order for owners to take advantage of Lemon Laws. There are a couple of lawsuits pending, as I recall.

After 6 weeks at the dealer service the issue was identified a a faulty ABS unit. Since the ABS unit is on the same CAN BUS network as other drive control modules errors occurred at random. The underlying issue, in my opinion, is the timing synchronization and lack of diagnostics on the specific failing component. A bad packet in the CAN BUS architecture can disrupt a subsequent data packet from a working component. Auto manufactures have not made a successful transition to digital infrastructure - in my opinion.

The dealership has been good to deal with. I think they are caught in the middle between customer and Audi. As I think about the experience the analogy I would use is it is like taking my computer to an auto mechanic to repair. The dealer does not have, I think, either the tools or expertise to evaluate and resolve. They have to contact Audi with days between each email response back from Audi. Even Audi's e-tron specialist customer service unit takes 2-3 days to return a phone call !! Audi is not prepared to enter the digital age with their EVs.
