Hi all, Dutch etron driver here,

is anyone able to activate and use Apple CarPlay wireless?

I’m not able to replicate the seemingly simple video instruction on:
CarPlay does work with a USB connection, but in combination with wireless charging it is not a very 2020 solution.

My dealer is unable to solve this issue at the moment.

In my opinion it can be two different issues: MMI isn’t up to date with the latest IOS, there is some kind of regional restriction.

Maybe IOS 13.4 will solve my issue.

Wireless Carplay is disabled in some regions for some reason. I suspect that may be the case for you, but I would expect the dealer to either know that or be able to find out.

I use it all the time. Make sure you connect to the car’s WiFi with your phone.

I’m in the uk and have failed to get this working and yet others in the UK report that it works for them. My dealer said my etron doesn’t have that function but Audi UK said it does but incompatibility with different iPhones can sometimes cause problems. I’ve tried a few different iPhones but that makes no difference so I’ve given up for now. Some people have suggested you can enable it using ODB so I may try that if I can justify the cost of the dongle.

On the more complicated software issues, I call Audi Canada customer support directly. Perhaps Audi UK has something similar.

Hi, I can't remember exactly what departmen I spoke to but it was supposedly the tech/MMI cusrtomer support department at Audi UK. I could probably have very easily got into an argument with him as he gave me no confidence that he had a clue what he was talking about. I should probably call again and see if I get someone else but I'm trying to get a leaky sunroof sorted at the moment so one thing at a time!

I have an iPhone Xs 13.3.1

called audi Netherlands today. They weren’t very clear either. Just a vague story about Wireless CarPlay being an option. I have the phonebox and wireless charging. I think it would be really strange if USB CarPlay is a feature that Wireless CarPlay is something you need to pay extra for... Called my dealer and asked the guy which option that would be but he (surprisingly) didn’t know.

Ours in the USA have both wireless and USB Airplay capability. I find it had to believe that a UK version doesn't also, especially if EU versions do. Something is not 'set' right IMHO.
