Hey, folks, tomorrow (March 28), I'm heading to Hollywood in the morning to spend two hours in person with the Audi activesphere Sportback crossover concept. (At this point, I think I've only seen digital renderings, so I'm pretty excited).
Time will be limited... however, let me know if you have any questions about the vehicle or for the Malibu Design Studio team that built it.
Thanks!

Looks like a lifted S5 Sportback with huge wheels, completely useless scoops on the rear bumper and a completely useless F1-style diffuser. In other words, it looks like it was drawn by a bored 16 year old in history class with a "but it goes to 11" Spinal Tap design ethos.
My question for the designers would be to ask about the details of their market research that shows the Venn diagram intersection between those with $70k to spend on a car and those who have taste like 16 year olds.
Also I would ask about rear bumper height regulations.
I didn't expect that you would use that question verbatim. Here, l'll help by providing a more diplomatic version:
[Interviewer to designer:] "This is a very interesting design combining the sleek look of a coupe with the ground clearance and wheels of a rally car. To me, this evokes the images of 1970s rally cars such as the Lancia Stratos. In the past 20 years the trend in vehicle demand has been strongly in favor of the tall SUV design language. This concept vehicle takes design in a new direction. Tell me about your marketing research and the expected buyer for the vehicle."
[Interviewer to designer:] "I see the rear bumper is quite high. Are there any safety concerns or expected conflict with bumper height regulations?"

Thank you for the pics! Excited to see Audi pushing the boundaries with their activesphere concept. The design is stunning, with the blend of the sportback and SUV elements working really well together.
