I've been reading a lot of action on the new coil setups. Not sure if you guys have seen these wires before but I have used them in the past w/ a different vehicle.
Magnecor wires - You want the R-100 series which boasts 10mm wires for those fans of more insulation =) and they have a KV85 series (8.5mm) too.
Details: www.magencor.com and here's a direct link to their spec sheet.

http://www.magnecor.com/magnecor1/files/information.pdf

Here are a few things that need to be thought about.
There is nothing that says your only choice for the spark plug to wire connection is a 7A, VW16v, or 3B spark plug cap.
Really it is what ever is the right height to connect to the plug in the hole of what ever valve cover you are using. The aan cover is not super deep so it would be possible to source some shorter more common spark plug connectors for less.
I am using Honda v6 magnecor wires that I sourced off ebay and will probably be into the wire set for under 50 total..
Since I'm almost done with my BBK the focus will be back on the LS2 coil setup in 2009. Currently I'm working on a sketch for brewspeed to make up a bracket using the POS mount location.

If you want to go on the super cheap you *can* use regular plug ends. I did this when I built my "ghetto" 20vt for my 4ktq. It works, just a little hokey when you go to take the plug wires on and off. I found using a 3/8 wobble extension to push on the tops of the plug boots worked reasonably well.
