My mint UR S6 only has 110K on it and ever since I had the rear main oil seal leak fixed (new clutch at same time) the car seems to have had a minor clank only over bumps. Now it clanks on sharp slow turns and when starting out from a stop. the tranny seems slightly less smooth as well. Do you think they might have put it out of allignment when the dealer did the clutch and rear main? That was 1 year ago but that is when I started hearing the noise. Is the driveshaft clank a common problem on these cars? It was on my 91CQ.

1)Get your car on jacks, and check all your exhaust hangers. There is one right after the the cats that often comes loose in mine. There is a clunk at deceleration, and when I go over bumps.
2)You might have bad tranny mounts, but the only way to tell would be to take them off. That'd take you about 2hrs, at most. Not too difficult, not the easiest thing if you don't have space to check it out
3)Driveshaft: Your mechanic might nt have properly attended to the driveshaft. But, your car might also have a bad Center Driveshaft Bearing Support. How do you tell? See what it does while accelerating and ubruptly coming off the gas.
I've experienced all of these, and have had the loose exhaust thing return after going over some rocks when offroading. I know the activity you do in your car, so I am thinking it's an exhaust thing.
If it's not, the other two are way more expensive to fix. Like actually replacing hundreds of dollars worth of parts, whereas the exhaust problems just needs to be retightened.
