I bet you blew the fuse - passenger side kick panel.
Also - a weak link in this system is the yellow connector behind the drivers side headlight (wiring comes up from the MFTS - in the radiator) - the plumbing from the headlamp washer pees out and shorts the connector -BTDT.

but the fan does have another radiator mounted switch right?

yes the MFT switch in the radiator - but the "jumping" you describe should start the fan as well. I'd bet on the fuse or a wiring short.

if you did the 214 at the very front then you had the right one. Sounds like your fan is dead and something in between.
