Default Aftermarket Stereo Options, I have been STFA...

And i know there are a lot of posts on it, please dont flame me for making another.

I see a lot of the posts seem to be talking about only replacing the head unit and using the original speakers.

My issue is this, my 10 disc CD changer doesn't work with the headunit for some reason, my rear speakers dont work because the amp is blown, the right door speaker up front is going out (amp i think) and the sound levels cut in and out on both speakers. The volume **** scratches, and the tape player doesn't play at a normal volume.

I have been dealing with it for a few years, i like the stock look, and the light from the alarm system...

Anyway, as you can see my stereo has many problems, I am assuming the best thing to do is an aftermarket HU, New speakers, and rewire the whole thing.

Again i know this has been covered but the reason i posted is because i want to do the simplest set up possible and just want some feedback. I really only need the two front speakers and a headunit for now. is there a good writeup for something like this, where i can re-wire the rear later for an amp, speakers, ect?

any other good ideas are welcome, thanks in advance.

Default so why not just install used speakers amp and head unit?

probably much cheeper and saves you the wiring nightmare.

Ditto, probably $75 from a wrecker. Otherwise I just saw a McIntosh system for sale on Ebay for $1750 with no speakers. A real bargain. I was thinking of it for my Alpina but....

Default I'm working up something with a Porsche HU

I just bought a Porsche (Becker) CDR-200 CD head unit. It appears to be a direct fit in place of the Gamma HU. I had to get a extra harness piece because the top connector (pre-out and CD changer controls) is a 20 pin on the porsche and we have an 8 or 10 pin I think.

The CDR-220 can be wired up to plug in an iPod and will charge it at the same time.

I'll be working on it in about two weeks and will post results once I get it all wired up.

Idealy thats what i would want most, the stock system to work perfectly.

the problem i guess is finding the parts, shokan will be $200+ for that stuff, nothing around here will have an old S4.

One other concern would be the CD player, im assuming the headunit is the problem because the CD changer ejects fine.

then the radio code, but i guess thats just a small issue. I just dont know where to get good parts. i wish these radios were the 25 dollar discounts.
