Default ^^ That is correct and great to know.the 034 RS2 EM replica.

bolts up to a Gen 4 downpipe, as Cody's GT 35 installation confirms!

Thanks

Default There is no way chipping ceramic coating is going to damage the P-Trim Turbine..

The thing could chop wood! Also the inside and NOT the outside is what Javad at 034efi said was the right thing to do. The reason being is that the application of the coatings can be hard on the metal. And if you are going to do one or the other the inside is what to do. I will take his word for it.

Looking at different ceramic coating sites they all mention coating inside of headers, pistons and valves etc:
http://www.jet-hot.com/Pages/tech1.html
http://www.hpcoatings.com/industries/auto.aspx#HI
http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/engine_coatings_review_tech/

Not sure what might have happened to your buddies coating...

Default FOD kills turbines

The last guy to have problems used Jet-Hot coatings.

But by all means if you find a revolutionary process that lasts more than a year sounds fantastic.

Bookmarking this post, and we'll revisit it then

BTW: Javad also told me about how loose material from an intercooler was ingested and ended up as little ***** aluminium inside the cats. Great story, but since I've personally lost a Turbo due to miniscule amounts of Intercooler FOD I take these stories only for their entertainment value.

Default I had my previous RS2 Manifold Jet-Hot Coated inside and out...NO issues

I dont disagree that FOD can destroy a turbine...most likely a compressor turbine as they are much more fragile. A hot-side turbine..we are talking some thing much more substantial to cause damage then flakes of ceramic material no thicker then a coat of paint.

Here is a pic of the P-Trim Turbine:

Default Huh?

How did stuff from the IC make it to the turbo?

The IC is universally downstream of the compressor, in any turbocharged application I've ever seen.

I can see how stuff from the IC might make it to the cylinders and out to the exhaust (theoretically), but not how IC material dorks up a compressor turbine. Upstream of my compressor, I have the air filter and the MAF (and the piping and housing for that stuff), but nothing else.

Help out a guy, here.

I'm also having trouble seeing how some thin flakes of glass (which is what ceramic is, essentially), are going to do anything to the hotside turbine that would even be visible.

Again, help me out...
