Default Any high boost guys running an uprated/stiffer wastegate spring?

I bought one of these MTM WG springs a while back on eBay, before I even owned an UrS car.

Does anyone here run a stiffer WG spring? What are the benefits if any as well as disadvantages to using one?

Default there are a few. its more of a convenience.

if you dont have an adjustable wastegate, of course, you'll run higher boost but you're rs2'd. personally i've noticed that cranking down the wastegate, i'll get more torque earlier. i just can't full throttle it b/c it'll overboost.

if you dont want it, i'll take it. the reason i want it is so that i don't have to crank the wastegate down as far.

Default its easy. why not install it and post the results.

they are 8mm bolts. it'll take like 5 min to change.

Thanks, but I'm looking for people who have actual used this spring on their AAN's.

Default I honestly don't think it does much that tightening the WG doesn't do....

It simply keeps the WG from opening when the ECU says it should, and delays the process just a bit longer I guess. I've adjusted my WG spring all the way in and out, and it really makes little difference. With it in on hot days, it will buck just a bit under full boost.

Default ever turned your wastegate down? same thing.

being that i've never done this on the AAN, i'd assume the same results apply for both considering my friends AAN does the same thing. bit torquer and more boost.

Default I have...

Definitely helped in my caseā€¦ The spring I run gives about 10 psig with the WG solenoid valve unplugged (believe its 1.8 bar rated for the older cars) and builds 25 to 28 psig much quicker than a stock spring even when screwed down. Also the ECU has no trouble adjusting to the extra spring tension. Keep in mind it will take a few driving sessions to adapt to the spring.

Default Sweet, someone with hands on knowledge!

Did you turn down the screw on the stiffer spring, if so, how many turns?
