Default Any thoughts on tubular manifold VS. Audi quattro sport manifold?

I have the ASQ (so the cost of that is not an issue) and am planning on upgrading my K26/To4e turbo. Is it worth it to go to a tubular manifold or does the ASQ flow pretty well in comparison? A tubular manifold will require about $1500 including a reworked DP. Or I can just bolt in a new turbo to my ASQ manifold. Thoughts?

Default Excuse my babble... no harm meant...

But IMHO, it seems that the reliability (and performance) of the K26/T04 while good, simply doesnt measure up to something like a BB turbo, if you're talking about upgading.

I just think that if you're caring avout the tube mani vs. Sport quattro mani, you have the funding/desire for performance for sometihng like a GT30. (or sometihng similar)

Just my opinion, I just tihnk you'd get better results from a BB turbo rather than buying another manifold. (given that you have a SQ manifold.)

...Im interested to see what the guru's have to say, however...

Default Like it said I'm upgrading turbo. Just wondering if a tubular EM would be worth it at the same time.

Easier and cheaper for me to just bolt in a new turbo.

Default You have a Audi Sport Quattro exhaust manifold? Pics?

I honestly do not know what it looks like.

Default Well I think its pretty well understood that tubes are better, but I always question how much...

As in, I understand an engineer may be able to tell you how they're different, but can I? Maybe a bit of a youth question, but IMO, valid nonetheless.

I find it very hard to believe the performance gained from a tube mani, vs a SQ manifold would amount to much at all. That said, all the "big boys" URs4Boy, (one of the guys ive seen 'round here) Javad, Jim, and all the guys with really big turbo seem to run them... and theres gotta be a reason. I like mine... was it worth the money? I'm unsure...

Default By the looks of it, it flows decently well, but I havn't seen numbers.

I'd keep it for the time being, upgrade your turbo (to what?) and wait to see how it performs. Your SQ mani has an K27 to T4 adaptor, right? If so, you have no need to upgrade just yet.

Default Without a doubt,,,

Its all about flow. I've had some computer issues and have been on the road a lot lately so I havn't been on any lists. I am having a new custom 321 tubular manifold fabricated even as I type this. I decided to abandon my 2nd tubular when I went with my new Big Valve Head (BVH). In general, most tubular manifolds flow better than cast ones. Are they worth it? Debateable. How do they hold up vs cast? I have no idea. Dave Dawson has been running one for sommething like 50,000 miles or so I think. Mike Pederson ran one in the Green garbage can for a very long time but I don't know the miles. I ran 2 different ones with minor issues on the last one and no issues on the first one. The reason I'm going with the new one is ultra high quality fabrication, stronger materials(321), firing order sequencing into the collector for max swirl, better flow for the new BVH. The shop is Dave Jones new hangout at Saridea.com in Denver. More to follow.

Hap, wit dakine off the sideline info not from Evahboost, Maguire
