Reviews say they suck in the rain. Anyone have personal experience?

G-Force KDW's and loved them. Over all my favorite tires. The G-Force KDW's were on my Scirocco 16v and they did very well in the rain. I ran the Traction Control T/A's on my 2001 GTI VR6 and and they did me very well all year round. Stuck good while driving aggressively towards Estes Park and still got me around all winter long.

I have them on my urq, only because the car takes an odd ball size and there were only a couple of choices. The car doesn't see much rain so I can't comment on hydroplaning but they are noisey and I haven't been very impressed with road handling either.
A cheap set for sale came up locally so I grabbed another set for my avant. Rock hard, noisey and on that car and they DO slip in the wet. I'm not going to get the kinds of miles I expected either, based on treadwear rating.
I will NEVER buy again...
The big surprise in tires for me are the RE01R's on the Urs4. Reviews had them at noisey, quick wearing (I'll have to check but I think the treadwear is 110!), dangerous in the wet but EXTREEMELY sticky in dry. They have been GREAT ! Not noisey. No hydroplaning. Are wearing nicely. (no chunking, and perfectly even. It looks like I'll get 20k out of them!) Oh, and they DO stick... 8-) I've run just about anything you can imagine (cept Goodyears) on that car and I'm sold on these.
Just goes to show you can't always trust others peoples opinions (but thats mine).

I've got 255/40/17 Dunlop Direzza DZ101's right now. They're not horrible, but I know they're not the best tire out there. They're quieter and about as grippy as my Hankook K104's were.
I bought my Dunlops new for $290, mounted + balanced. They were on closeout, so I cannot complain.![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
My Hankooks were new in 2005, survived 6 days on track, 2 autocrosses, and alot of daily driving. They were at the wearbars and I had planned on driving them until they were completely bald, but one of the tires got a fast leak in it and I corded the sidewall while limping to a gas station about a month ago. Doh! Oh well, I guess that's the advantage of having 2 sets of summer tires...

We had two new sets of tires for the race, but a single set made it through the entire 24 hours. We were running for 20 of the 24 hours and were pushing the car quite a bit. There is enough tread to use them next year as our back up tires.
Our race car is a Ford Probe GT so YMMV with a UrS.
