Default Attn 1.8T coil users: Are there anyone using 06C-905-115-L coils?

The ones with the red top used in the 3.0s

They are physically identical to the 06B-905-115-R coils, and i've tried them in a 1.8T for about 5 mins with no ill effects. (I couldn't go any longer, not my car.)

The fact that these more readily available from the dealerships gives me reason to believe that they have a lower failure rate. Or.....there are just less 3.0s on the road.

I am not reffering to the 06B-905-115-L coils which were what the 115-Rs superceded from, these 115-Ls begin with an 06C.

Price? They may survive better because there is less heat from the NA 3.0 than a 1.8t (or 2.2 20vt)

Default What about 2.7T

Coils?
They may take the heat better or you may find they are 30V coils.

I've known a few people to use V8 coils also.

Default The APB coils are he same as the AEB 1.8T

and are driven by the same POSs as the AAN.

If it's the B6 V8 you speak of the coils also have a different part # (077-905-115-S) however they look the same in the family album as the 115 Ls and Rs.

So who's using what?

Default Don't laugh

But I was going to buy a used coil on plug setup for a ford 3V v8 and see what the fit was like..

If the fit seemed decent there are a few aftermarket HO solutions that are priced in the 30-40 dollar range.

The chevy LS versions have built in drivers too so there is potential to get rid of the POS but those are little more pricy..
