Default Back in an Audi (95.5 S6) - some questions

Howdy all,

I have been away from Audis Briefly, but have had quite a few in the past.
1984 5000s
1984 Coupe GT
1985 Coupe GT
1991 200 20v
2002 Allroad 2.7T Tip

then I decided to get practical and bought a Prius....which I hated.

So last week I bought a unmodified 1995.5 S6 and a modified, but very rough
1994 S4.

The plan is to use the 94 as a parts car and move the upgrades to the S6.

Here are the modifications listed for the S4
RS Manifold
Aftermarket Turbocharger, KKK hot suction, Garrett cold suction
bigger injectors
tuning module

unfortunately I don't have the room to keep a parts car, so it is at my
parents 350 miles away.

First question:
I am trying to identify the "tuning module". When I went and bought it I found a sticker that said "tuned by TAP" so I expected to find one of the
hand written notes as listed here:
http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/threads/13957.phtml But I didn’t instead I found.
3 BAR transducer, and 2 chips both computer labeled. One on the same board as the transducer say: AAN LDR 5CC0 the other says AN MOT F2C5 Any idea what that chips these are?

Second question:
Any harm in switching chips, but not tubos, injectors, maniforld, wastegate
sprint, etc? I didn't think to grab the wastegate spring, and couldn't
figure out how to get the manifold off. (those bolts at the bottom leave no
room to turn)

3rd question: how would I identify which hybrid turbo I ended up with?

4th question: how would I clean the injectors, the S4 was full of varnish
from sitting a long time.

thanks in advance.
Jeremiah

Most of the few here are also over there.

are you saying I shouldn't post on both forums as it is redundant?

No, not at all. Just a reason for crickets.

I think both have their uses. QW is certainly busier, but I feel like you're more likely to get a technical answer here. Together, the two sites make for a social mullet, business here, party there.

Not really. There are more people over there to provide technical answers than here.

Here there are only like 3 or four regulars now who have any technical BTDT knowledge to share. And sometimes the new people who come here with questions that are so fundamental, it is painful to try to answer them without direct access to a good FAQ.

AW doesn't like direct open links to rival websites and has threatened banning, etc. for breaches of that.

Default Chip identified

just to keep the post updated here: I found out these chips are from Steve Eiche at Shade Tree Software. I contacted him and he confirmed the chip is setup for RS2 (or equivalent) injectors, large turbo, and 3 bar MAP, with RS2 manifold. It does not require a Wastegate spring change.

I saw that your original post on the other forum and then your update there. I think any of us who care that are here are also over there.

The funny thing is you started talking TAP so my eyes glazed over. Then the chip labels didn't look very TAP but I just shrugged. If you hadn't said TAP, I would have walked over to another room in the house and pulled out my Steve Eiche RS2 chips and would have been able to help you.

Lesson: Don't assume anything about chips as being one company or the other unless those chips say "TAP" or "MTM" or the like.

I ran those Steve Eiche RS2 chips with full RS2 hardware and 3.0 Bar MAP sensor in the ECU but did not like them. Too agressive on the timing (= pinged even on Chevron 94) and too non-linear = ON!!!!!!/off , ON!!!!!/off. Too hard to drive smoothly on twisty roads.

thanks good feedback. I only mentioned TAP because there was a big sticker on the car that said "tuned by TAP" so I assumed they must have done something, maybe they did a stage 1 chip and the owner upgraded later and left the sticker on.

trying to decide if I want to keep the turbo, chip, and injectors and go full out for big power or just put the manifold on and try to trade the turbo and chip for a stock turbo chip. The brief time I drove the S4 with the chip and turbo it seemed fine, but didn't have much time with it.
