Everything was ordered online from out of state so I paid zero tax, just shipping
I'm not sure what material the Bira brackets are made from, but I would never run a brake kit with aluminum brackets. I have seen way too many pictures of failed aluminum brackets. Other than OEM RS2 I don't know of any available brackets that aren't aluminum.

Yes, the BIRA brackets are aluminum. I have never heard of one cracking, however.
(BTW, I agree with your assessment, but to be fair to BIRA, none of their brackets have failed, as far as anyone knows.)

Good point on the brackets. I contacted Greg @ Bira
but they don't have the stage 1 bracket on a shelf and since getting a party of 6 buyers together would be next to impossible, due to the popularity of the 933tt/928gts set up, he couldn't readily quote what the shop would charge to fabricate a single set.
Too bad...The 986 calipers can be had for $150 per side (good but used) and the 312x25 rotors won't put you in the poor house either.
My ideal would be to buy genuine Bira brackets, but that's why I was wondering about the dimensions vs the RS2 brackets. If I could buy RS2 brackets and have them milled to fit the 986 caliper I'd be interested in going that route.
