Default regulating valve will control...

the number of oil vapour from under valve cover and crankcase that will be burnt again via the breather system.

the PCV is the one way valve.when the underboost condition the valve will stay closed to prevent the boost pressure to force the oil vapour
from under valve cover and the crankcase too much that can cause the car smoke out.

I'm already replaced the PCV but not yet for regulating valve.

Default Try this link to the FAQ discussion on the crankcase ventilation control system

Default if either valve is bad, can it cause slight smoke at idle?

or possibly between shifts?

so that was a tech training guide with misrepresented information?

I thought something was wrong when looking at etka, but had no idea what
