Default Calling Dave F. or anyone who has done the 1.8T coils

Got my 115R coils modified last night and started the harness build. Have a couple questions.

In Dave's write up he mentions that the power wires from the 3 pin connectors could possibly be run with one 12 or 14 gage feeder. Has anyone done this? Would the 12 gage feeder just pin into one of the 3 pin contacts? I wonder if this might be too much current for one contact?

From looking at the schematic looks like the ECU provides 5 power circuits to the OEM POSs. How about tie all 5 power pins from the 3 pin connectors together then run the feeder from this?

Has anyone come up with a better source for the mating 4 pin ECU connectors? I ordered the 1J0 973 824 which looks identical to what Dave used but would rather find something that is a better mate/fit. I might have to got the junk yard and do some scrounging.

Default I said was possible but in the end, just run 5 separate power lines. The Volvo connector is what

you need (you need 2 of them), plus the Volvo pins and grommets.

Default 450exc115 - I was wondering where your coil conversion was at......

I had seen some of your earlier posts on doing a 034 HO version but I thought it had died on the vine since nothing lately.

I looked at the 034 HOs and researched other sources for internal switching coils but in the end I decided to got the 1.8T route (just under $200 for harness and 115R coils was the big driver). I had an engineer from Beru was supposed to get me part numbers for compatible coils but he never got back to me.

Anyway, I am curious to know how your setup works.

Default Yeah my project priorities move around alot

And the "other" coil setup has been sitting patiently on the bench..

LS1/LS6/GM coils for everyone knowledge. About 10-15 a piece, 20 bucks for 2 harnesses and then the CF, spacers, etc were all source via McMaster.

Got the mount squared away, wires work well and seal the plug hole (good for no moisture down there) just need to finish up a harness. It's busy family season for me and I start racing in two weeks so hopefully I can get the hr or 2 I need to finish and try this out.
