Default Sounds like he would like to retain the stock coil cover. The stock coils have been found to take

the heat much better than the 1.8T coils do. Some people have reported failed 1.8T coils in only 6-8 months after install(IIRC)with the cover over them. However, the coil cover is not needed. Without it I have not heard of the 1.8T coils failing due to heat.

Default the number of documented failures of the 1.8 coil pack secondary to heat is growing.

granted they are cheep but I'd rather not deal with an ongoing potentila failure issue. The "high out put" 034 kit looks interesting but at $650 - a single oem replacement seems reasonable.

Default Yeah, exactly...the cover is supposed to be left off of them, otherwise there is nowhere for the

heat to dissipate to...but I understand that if you want to retain the stock coil cover then it is not a road you want to go down...

Seems retrogressive somehow to go back to sparkplug wires.

Default yep, also the stock coils are attached to the cover so it acts like a heat sink.

Even so this is still is not that good. The 1.8T coils are not attached to the cover so the heat sink property's are lost.

the stock coils also don't have a built-in pos, so that helps with heat over 1.8T
