cold starting problem - intermittent stalling ...

Here's the deal. When I start the engine cold, the starter turns for 3-4 seconds; half of the time the engine fires-up, and the other half of the time the engine stalls. I then re-attempt starting, and the engine fires-up.
Here's some background info:
1. New fuel pump
2. New FPR
3. Fuel pump is receiving appropriate electrical current
4. Even if I put the ignition in the "on" position for a few seconds prior to starting to allow the fuel pump to build pressure, it'll sometimes stall when starting.
I'm stumped. Clearly, I've been treating this as a fuel delivery issue and it may not be. Ideas?
Thanks,
Dave

The ECU gets signals from the crank and cam position sensor. Turning on the ignition and waiting for fuel pump pressure to build wont make a difference.

I guess that is a good thing. Probably means that my pump is still in good shape.

Problems could still be:
1. Fuel delivery / pressure (despite new pump / FPR / proper voltage)
2. CamPositionSensor (despite no codes other than 2111)
?
