Default just gotta find one. another friend has an Audi 80

I assume '208' is all I need to match, yeah?

I have like 5 people looking around the shops for one

are we all in agreement that a failed J17 would cause a running car to stop?

Default As shown in this diagram, there are lots of things the J17 controls.

Default The J17 FP relay (PN 4D0 951 253) is your mostly likely suspect. No telling whether it is or

whether its lawyer will get it off on a technicality.

Default also, shouldn't the relay CLICK when you turn the key?

Audibly and by touch?
Mine isn't clicking...

Default NO NO NO NO. It's not a VW or older Audi. The UrS C4 J17 FP is only turned on if the ECU thinks

everything is fine, e.g. the engine is turning over AND it is getting a signal from the cam sensor, e.g. during starting with a good Cam sensor and RPMs more than 28 RPM (during cranking).

If the CPS is good and the ECU gets a good signal, the FP relay will be energized through pin 3/55 of the ECU, as Marc S. was pointing you to. However, if the FP relay is dead, then nothing is going to happen.

ah. figured it was too nice of a car to have that loud relay clicking.

Default Well, my good friend Kate says that 94 Audi 80/90s use the 4D0 951 253 (=208) FP relay.

Maybe your buddy had the wrong relay but the car should have had the 4D0 951 253 (=208)
