This is a long shot, but does anyone know the right technique and/or tools to remove the outer metal covers from the flush urS car (and others) style exterior door handles? There is a plastic piece that pushes in from the side and retains the metal cover, and there's a tab that needs to be depressed somehow to do it without breaking it.
I'm trying to swap the (other three, pearl) metal plates onto my (black) handles for my pearl 200q20v.

To remove door handle assembly components:

To remove, twist toward rear (opposite driving direction)

That's the part that seems to be difficult. After I exploded one of them by forcing it, the locking pin looks like it has a tab that needs to be depressed in order to remove it.
Perhaps mine was just jacked up from the forceful disassembly. I'll try the other ones and see how it goes. Thanks for the info!
