Default Eclipse CD7000 - Worths $279??

Not having a CD player in my car freaking kills me (my daily commute is 45-60 min one way), it's time to upgrade.
A few of you have this HU on UrS cars and I found one on evilbay for $279.
My plan (originally) was to get a Pioneer DEH 4000 UB for cheap, but then I stumbled upon the CD7000 and remembered that I read positive things about it here.
A few things that i'd like some comments on are:
1. how does that nav system work (is it like having a map on the display, or does it have a GPS sensor input as well?)

2. I have noticed that the deck has a memory stick slot, can it play mp3s from the stick?

3. Any complains about this deck (overall build quality/sound quality/lack of features/etc)?

Default If you buy it on Ebay I don't think you will have access to Eclipses website to make the GPS work.,

Its an excellent sounding unit and the ipod interface is good. You will need to get an IPC-106 ipod interface for the ipod to work unless you just plug it into the auxillary RCA's which I would not reccommend. The things I like best about are the built in crossover and sound quality. Sound quality is the most important thing to me. The thing I like least about it is the way it looks, but it does look cool at night lit up. I am old school and don't like the way any of the new head units look except for maybe Mcintosh or Nakamichi. Those are big bucks though and ironically for how expensive they are they don't have an ipod interface. I think you will be happy with this unit, especially for the price. I am getting ready to purchase another one to put in our other S6. I posted a pic so you can see what it looks like at night.

Default Thanks for the info

I also can't stand the looks of the new decks and the pic you posted is a big help in the decision taking process...
I will look into the GPS issue, however these units are brand spanking new (supposably), non refurbished, hopefully access to Eclipse's website won't be a problem (do you need a password, or a registration code?)

Also, I assume you are using other than stock amps, care to share the setup that you use?

Thanks again!

Default Far as I know unless you buy the Eclipse unit from a retail store there is no access to there site

I purchased mine from the seller that has them listed now (your12voltdeals) and had no problems with them, they do have a little bad feedback though =(.
In my sedan I am running a four channel Mcintosh amp with Morel 5.25 speakers in the front, 5.25 MB quarts in the rear deck for fill, a 600 watt Rockford Fosgate mono amp for the sub and a JL Audio 12 inch sub.
In the wagon I am still working on acquiring all the parts but it will be similar to the sedan except I may try a different 5.25 in the front and I am running one amp for the whole system, a six channel Mcintosh. Also I will probably use a JL Audio 10w7 sub instead of a twelve.

Default That is the seller!

So I assume you are not using the nav feature or you just don't update the maps?

BTW, nice amp/speaker arrangement! I will def. look for some MB quarts, I have an Infinity Kappa 12.1 sub, and I have to make up my mind about the amps

Default The thing I don't really like about the MB Quarts is they are too bright.

But they can be toned down a bit with the crossovers. The nice thing is you can get them cheap on Ebay, in fact sometimes you can get the QSD's which are there best speaker for about $200.00 a pair. I am going to just use the MB Quart QSD's for rear fill now and that is because I already have them. Find a used Mcintosh amp on Ebay, you won't regret it. And yes its true, I don't use the GPS so I have been able to get by without using there site. =)
