Since I don't have access to Motronic tuning software, I go back to common sense and vag tools. There is no question in my mind that if a car runs rich, you can do some basic tuning of it with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. IMO and IME, I completely disagree that .2 bar is insignificant. In the case of a supercharged v6 I was trying to dial in, the difference between coding long term fuel trim and not coding it was with very minute tuning of fuel pressure.

There is a massive leak in the intercooler - the tract goes from 20 PSI to 0 in about 5 seconds.

Now I just have to get the intercooler out and inspect it closely.

and just wait until you get that leak fixed. You will be grinning far bigger. Obviously that fluttering at 25psi was the turbo surging. I get a mild amount of surge at 4k rpm due to the overly large turbo I run and the needle on the boost gauge flickers back and forth and then smooths out.

If you need an IC I think one of the S4/6's I have recently parted for a customer may have yielded a good IC. The most recent S6 IC was cracked, though the other S4 may have had a good unit, can't remember. Give me a buzz and I can put you in contact with him if you need.

I have a couple local options I'll exhaust first. Do intercoolers ('93 S4) fail frequently? Does the windshield wash react with the metal somehow?

At least one of the holes I can see is oddly round, like someone goofed with a drill....

I can't wait till it's fixed... I really thought it was fast now :-)
