Is it a good idea to drive with a fuel injector lead unplugged?

I'm diagnosing a misfire problem and I know it's going to be a couple days before parts are in, is it a good idea to unplug the offending cylinder's fuel injector electrical lead? I don't want to flow fuel through the cat any longer than I have to. It also makes the whole car smell like fuel from the exhaust. Since I don't know what the problem is yet (could be a spark plug) do I have the danger of running the engine lean if I do this?

It is OK to drive on 4 cylinders if the injector is unplugged, you will just have low power. If you leave it plugged in your cat's will probably glow red and self destruct.

check the boots and plugs. Replace the plugs if you are unsure (tighten to 22 lb ft). Follow the suggestions in the URL to help track down the miss.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/115408.phtml</a
