Default While the head is off, spend the money on removing and building the bottom end too.

If your goal is 400-600 WHP, open those pockets wide, because it'll never make more sense than now.

Default Don't know if Jim still does this

But he use to build motors and know good machine shops in NJ. I don't think he is still running the business but can point you to a good shop.

Contact info is.

Default head is going into the shop next week

however with money issues i will have to wait till the spring to build the bottom end since those were my original plans with the motor, but buring this one valve just makes sence for me to do this part right now

Default RPM did a nice job on my head, however...

If I were doing it again I would just get a whole reman'd head from 034 for simplicity's sake.

Default Make sure you source the parts yourself

I had my head done about a month ago and paid $100 more than I should have because the guy ordered new valve guides from a source that charged 5x what I could have got from Autohausaz or somewhere like that. This shop does mostly American iron and wasn't as familiar with sourcing Euro parts so he got burned and thus I got burned. Still in the end it was reasonable, $700 for complete disassembly, cleaning, pressure test, resurface, valve grind and new valve guides. Nothing too fancy, I am sure p&p would run the bill up.
