Default Here's a coil testing thought that could be interesting

I have acce$$ to a four wheel dyno. I will soon have three coil options, OE and POS, 1.8t and Delphi D585 of my own. Within 60 miles (100 km) of said dyno is a lister with a 034 HO coil set.

It would be possible try all four options on one or two cars, e.g. my RS2'd 93 and perhaps a stock or chipped S4. Reset the ECU between coil sets. Cool down the FMIC with water or CO2 between coil sets.

Who would be interested in the results?

Anybody interested in contributing to the R&D fund for the dyno time (probably an hour per car, two or three pulls per coil set, change out time, ow, ow, ow, it's hot, in between)?

Just a thought.

Might happen.

Or not.

I might have to save up $40K.

Or not.

Default What will the control car spec, OEM? What will the negitive control be?

How much is hourly for the dyno? How many cars available?

One or two cars, Mine (RS2d) and maybe a chipped car. Both tested with all four coil sets.

Default Here is what I would do (maybe)

Just talk to 034 and see if they will sponsor it, or at least partially sponsor it, to determine which of these options is indeed better. I know it is a long shot, but it is worth asking IMO.

Don't know until you try, that is all I am saying... I am aware that it is a stretch, but whatever..

Default Not gonna try. Thanks for the idea though.

You obviously haven't been paying attention.

I do wonder why 034 hasn't done this already themselves to show the benefits of their "HO" coil system.
