ISTFA... VEMS vs 034
I sent an email in to Javad @ 034 (still waiting for a response) and got some info from a4kquattro on the VEMS. It seems like they are both great products but not sure which I want to go with. 034 has many different options so I don't really know which I would need. It seems that a4kquattro is also running 034 in one of his cars too which seems odd since he sells the VEMS. How is the support with VEMS? I know 034 has great customer service.
Who on here is running either of these and how do you like it?

I'm in the same boat.......not sure what I'll do............
I really like the VEMS due to how flexibile it is and that I can upload different programs w/ a laptop depending on what I'm doing (track, street, strip)
I'm also impressed w/ the numbers that 034 has made using the "big turbo's" and the 4" maf.
I'm sitting on the side line until early next year to decide but both Mark and Javad have been quick to supply answers to my questions.

Standalone. I just got off the phone with Dan, he cleared some things up for me.
I like to play and tweak so I thought the standalone would be ideal but after the prices I am seeing I am considering a chip/turbo setup.

It's like comparing a mac apple to a golden
Same thing just different flavor.
FYI Marc went with 034 as he does business with them and that was before he became a VEMs distributor.
Customer service wise 034 has well, 034 and VMS has Marc plus the European head quarters.
I'm sure Marc will chime in here but from what I remember he said, 034 has some better features for somethings and VMS for others. My prefrence would be VMS as Marc is closer to me (NH to CT)and it has the option of plugging right in.

VEMS and 034 IIC
I'm not sure of your name, I get a lot of emails on the subject of VEMS and 034 and the differences between the two so I'll just greet you as "audidrv" for now
audidrv,
as I likely stated in my email to you they are indeed both great products, and you are correct, I run 034 stage IIC in my coupe quattro. This is not "odd" at all. I am a retailer for both VEMS and 034 products and I can easily recommend both systems, depending on the specific situation. They are both excellent ECUS!
First let me explain what I perceive as the benefits of each system, without talking about the plug and play aspect of things for a moment:
034:
more user friendly software interface
better documentation
easier to setup and wire (for NON plug and play applacations, eg a 'project car' with no existing wiring harness or a custom application)
VEMS:
onboard wideband support
knock sensor support
onboard EGT input
3D timing map
user-settable map break points (you get a 12x12 table for fuel and timing, how you want to use those 12x12 cells is up to you, the rpm and map 'divisions' are user settable).
support for exotic hardware and triggering, such as the flywheel triggering used on the older audis.
Now, as to the plug and play systems, VEMS is the clear choice, in my opinion.
