go under the pass side of the car look up at the bottom of the frame rail the alternator wiring is bolted together in a plastic box hook a set of jumper cables up pos to the connecter neg to the frame then you will have power hope this helps dave

For real? I have never heard of that in 13 years of UrS ownership. Any chance of photos of this location. (Please).

Not sure about turboaudiS4's idea about a magic connection box to the battery/alternator cables under the car (nobody else has heard of this but suggested that it is true for D2 A8s). However, consensus on another forum is that you *could* connect a positive battery cable to the thick cable on the starter (right side of the engine) and back feed 12V to the battery to charge it and/or operate the central locking system (ground the other jumper cable to the chassis somewhere) (Be sure to isolate that positive cable so it just touches the thick cable from the battery at the starter and NOTHING else).
