Another culprit is leaky injectors. Run some injector cleaner through your next tank of gas and see if that helps. I had a similar problem and had my injectors ultrasonically cleaned and haven't had the problem since.

I think I'm gonna try the battery first as I know it's old and may be on its way out anyways. If that doesn't fix it, I'll look towards the fuel pump or check valve.
I've got 150k on the clock now, and I can't find any evidence that the fuel pump has ever been replaced.
I assume this is a DIY job.
