Default The next step on the slippery slope...performance coatings

Just received my FMIC an IM back from SwainTech with a black body emitter coating. What the h*ll is that some of you may say?? Well...BBE is a very thin (<.001") coating formulated to maximize the emissive power of any part that is at a higher temperature than the ambient conditions. Will this help to cool the intake charge better/faster and make a little more HP?? Who knows, but you can't get much more stealth (read 4driver4 friendly) than this, and keep in mind that by reducing the air intake temperature 10 degrees F, a horsepower increase of 1% results, a 30 degree F drop equates to a 3% horsepower increase! Gotta be worth 10hp when bench racing.....:-)

EM, downpipe and possibly turbo housings will get this:

Swain Tech Thermal Barrier Coating is a 3-layer .015-.020" thick permanent coating. The coating is pearl white in color and extremely durable. It reduces radiant heat by more than 50%. It is applied as SOLID Ceramic Layers, not hi-temp paint. It is a true .015 thick Thermal Barrier.

This will need to be covered with a high temp paint of some sort to prevent fingerprints and grease ruining the "look" of the coating.

Anyway, thought you guys might be interested. Man do I have a lot of work to do this winter....

Default Looks great...

But honestly...unless you are in stop and go traffic...a good FMIC will keep your intake manifold "cool" to the touch....honestly.

Remind me why we coat our FMIC's with paint and coatings...seems opposite of the goal of a FMIC

Default Seriously...I can help you out if you are interested.

SwainTech is around Rochester, NY. At least for a while, I have a technician that drives back and forth Rochester to Albany every week. I need to pick up a center console from chefbob anyway, I could pick up your parts, and save you shipping at least one direction......

Just like handing a junkie a needle, ain't it!!!:-)
